He was America's biggest star. He was also a British spy. #shorts

Coco Chanel had a Nazi handler. But the Hollywood star nobody suspected was working for the other side. Archibald Leach — the man the world knew as Cary Grant — was not just an actor in the 1940s. He was an asset. Born in Bristol in 1904, Grant never lost his British passport. By 1940, British intelligence had a problem: America would not enter the war, and Hollywood was the most powerful propaganda machine on the planet. Grant was recruited — not as a field operative, but as a social intelligence conduit. His parties at his Malibu home became known gathering points. Declassified files and investigative reporting by journalist Marc Eliot, in his 1989 biography, detail how Grant reported on the political sympathies of Hollywood figures directly to British intelligence contacts in Los Angeles. The FBI, under J. Edgar Hoover, opened a file on Grant — not because he was a threat, but because Hoover resented a foreign government running assets inside America without his knowledge. That file ran to hundreds of pages. Grant spent the rest of his life insisting he was just an entertainer. The FBI file stayed sealed for decades. The part nobody talks about: British intelligence was running at least a dozen Hollywood names the same way. Follow for the WW2 they don't teach you.
