Why the NEW Minecraft Textures Are Really Bad

Jasper's new textures appear to fit only in isolation of each other. Within the context of Minecraft as a whole, there are too many inconsistencies to permit a fluid and effortless playing experience. The art styles seem reactionary rather than self-fulfilled, and from a business point of view, what are they trying to do? Is this the right business move - creating a problem that was never there?
