Demystifying watercolor paper - how to choose the right paper for your paintings.

Your watercolor paper can be your best friend in painting, or an uncaring host. More than any other material, the paper you choose for your watercolor painting matters! ESPECIALLY if you are just getting started. The wrong paper can actually make watercolor painting more difficult, and many new painters quit without realizing that their paper was a key factor in keeping them getting the effects they wanted in their painters.

I was asked by Indigo Artpaper to test and demonstrate their handmade papers and in this video I'm sharing the unique qualities of their 100% cotton rag watercolor paper. It's not the only paper I use, but I often choose it for the beautiful textures that are created by the pairing of fine watercolor pigments and the flow of water over the handmade surface of the paper.
