Ikebana How-to, the Tateru-katachi step-by-step

Stephen Coler from http://www.stephencoler.com, a Sub-Grand Master of the Ohara School of Ikebana, shows you how to create a simple ikebana arrangement step-by-step. The Tateru-katachi, one of the basic forms of the Ohara School, uses only  a few stems to create a beautiful and dynamic arrangement. Stephen takes you through the process which enables you to create an original arrangement of your own.

Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging, is a tradition that has been practiced for over 600 years. The art has evolved from simple floral offerings placed on alters into arrangements that decorate the spaces where people live, work, and play.

Stephen Coler has been studying and teaching ikebana for the past 20 years in Japan. He holds the degree of Sub-Grand Master of the Ohara School of Ikebana. He offers online ikebana lessons that you take you through each arrangement, step-by-step, and explains the "why" behind each step. Students from all over the world, including China, Australia, Germany, Ireland, America, Japan, and India, are enjoying the lessons.
