“Echoes in the Quiet”
Lyrics by Cdr Alok Mohan,

I was a whisper in a world too loud,
A fragile wish you never said out proud.
You danced with dreams I couldn't reach,
While I spoke love you didn’t teach.
You called it fate, I called it scars,
You chased the sun and counted stars.
But I stayed back with wilted grace,
A garden blooming in a forgotten place
I was the answer you didn’t ask,
A loyal face behind the mask.
You stitched your wounds with borrowed lies,
While I lit hope in midnight skies.
But now I rise — still scarred, but strong,
No longer bound to where you went wrong.
You walked away, but I stood tall,
From broken nights, I’ve braved it all.
And though you're gone, one truth breaks through —
It wasn't you who carried love... it was me who carried you.
But hear me now — I won’t collapse,
I’ve stitched my soul from thunderclaps.
I’ve kissed the mirror with no shame,
And whispered softly, “Know your name.”
And I still care, though you're not mine,
A ghost that haunts the hands of time.
I smile in crowds, but I’m not whole,
You were the ache that kissed my soul.
Now silence speaks where words once grew,
I lost myself to hold on to you.
I’ve learned to walk with broken pride,
To dry my tears the nights I cried.
You never saw the wars I braved,
Or how many times my heart I saved.
They see me laugh — a practiced art,
But pain still paints behind the heart.
You were a storm I couldn't flee,
Yet I became the calm in me.
You were a flame that never stayed,
But I was the warmth you felt in shade.
You called it need, I called it soul,
You feared the depth — I made you whole.
You left me with echoes, not goodbyes,
With questions buried under skies.
I searched for answers in your eyes,
But found reflections wearing lies.
I gave you peace you couldn’t hold,
Soft hands that warmed your winter cold.
You feared the fire and not the flame —
You loved the spark, but not the name.
You sleep in silks while I mend dreams,
In silence louder than it seems.
I built a home with just my hands,
From shattered hope and sinking sands.
Yet still, I’d choose you one more time,
Even if love was never mine.
I’d walk through storms with bare regret,
For all the words you just forget.
