Riding the Adirondack Railroad: Thendara to Beaver River

Enjoy a beautiful ride on the through the Adirondack Mountains from Thendara to Beaver River. This is the first year in twenty two years that passengers have had the opportunity to ride this portion of the line. By the end of the summer, the Adirondack Scenic Railroad hopes to have the whole line opened between Utica and Tupper Lake. After the 44 mile round trip, I headed up to Big Moose Station to catch the train stopping there, do the runaround, and head back to Thendara. The engine pulling the train was the newly acquired ADIX 3573, an MLW M420W that was originally built for the Canadian National Railway back in 1976. After it’s time on the CN, 3573 went to the Maine Eastern Railroad, the Morristown and Erie Railroad, and now the Adirondack Scenic Railroad. Enjoy the video!
