Perhaps the biggest mistake I see young filmmakers make is the fact that they don't spend the time and money on proper production design. Doesn't matter how much money you spend on the camera or lenses or lights. None of that will matter if what's infront of the camera looks horrible. Spend the time and make your scenes look interesting by finding the right locations. Also dress up the locations before filming and make sure the costumes your actors wear are complimentary to the kind of look you are going for. Then spend the time getting the right angle and using the right filters. Finally make the shots have more depth by using the lights in the right way to help separate foreground from background. In the end make it all come together by adjusting the colors to match your vision. I used my custom FAMOUS MOVIES
