2021 Mercedes Sprinter Van | Is a 4x4 Sprinter Van Worth it

Boy did we put this 2021 Mercedes Sprinter Van Built by Kuku Campers (www.kukucampers.com) to the test! We drove this van over 2,800 miles through a blizzard, ice storm, and high winds through Idaho. We really pushed the limits of this van and wanted to pass on what we learned about this awesome rig to you kookz.

Is a 4x4 Sprinter worth the money? Well, they are badass I know that much. But do you really need it? We would say no. While we would love to have one, there just aren't many opportunities to 4x4 your nice luxury Mercedes Benz Sprinter Van. While the 4x4 would be handy when you get really stuck in the snow, ice, or sand. We've seen a fair share of 4x4 sprinters stuck in the sand and snow. They are heavy vehicles and just really aren't made to 4x4. Plus who really wants to take their home over snow insanely bumpy terrain? Not us...

We've owned a 2wd Sprinter for over 4 years now and have taken it all the way to the bottom of Baja California and on some of the most obscure roads in America and have only been stuck a handful of times. The Sprinter vans are the most capable cargo vans on the market they have better ground clearance than ford and ram so they handle off-road conditions pretty darn good with a 2wd. All you really need to make your 2wd van handle off-road conditions better are some nice all-terrain tires and the right air pressure.

This van handled so well in over a foot of snow in Brundage Idaho, we only got stuck once when we parked on some black ice and it froze in the evening. Honestly, we would have been stuck in a 4x4 it was basically an ice pond. This Sprinter drives like a dream and handles so well you don't notice that you are driving an almost 8,000-pound van at 80 mph on the highway. It has tons of modern features that make the drive super comfortable and really make this van more of a luxury vehicle than a cargo van.

So if you are considering a 4x4 van and paying an additional $10k for the upgrade, I recommend you watch this video. We've been living in vans for over 6 years and this is the best van I've ever driven. I wish I could keep it.
