Self-Efficacy and Student Learning

This is a four-minute excerpt from yesterday's two-hour webinar, Helping Students to Be Effective Learners. Thank you for the positive feedback from the participants, Alhamdulillah. I intend to publish a series on this theme.

This excerpt explains the concept of self-efficacy, which is a key personal variable of Bandura's Social Cognitive Theory (SCT), defined as “an individual's belief in his or her own ability to organize and implement action to produce the desired achievements and results”.

When self-efficacy and a growth mindset are combined with self-directed and self-regulated characteristics, a learner should be well equipped to navigate the VUCA world. (VUCA: Volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous).
