PayPal Scams - Friends and Family - Fortnite Account Example

This PayPal Scam has come up a lot lately, most recently where a person was trying to buy a Fortnite account using PayPal. In this video I explain why this is a scam and how it works so that you can avoid it.

PayPal provides payment options for "Goods and Services" or "Friends and Family". If you are sending or receiving payments for Goods or Services, there is both Buyer Protection and Seller Protection policies in place that will help protect you.

With Friends and Family, it is assumed that you are working directly with actual Friends and/or Family to exchange cash for non-business purposes. As such, PayPal does not charge any fees for using the service in this way, and they also do not offer any such protection on these types of transactions.

Unfortunately, sellers often try to take advantage of this to save fees, and fraudsters take advantage of this to get cash payments which cannot be disputed.
