'Party gone wrong': 5 shot at Charlotte, NC house party, police identify man killed

A shooting at a north Charlotte house party killed one person and sent four others to the hospital on Sunday night, police say.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to a reported shooting at a home on Hucks Road around 7:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found three people who'd been shot. One of the victims, 20-year-old Richard Jeddiah Thomas, died at the scene. Three others were taken to the hospital by Medic and are expected to recover. The fifth victim went to the hospital on their own and suffered injuries that aren't life-threatening, according to CMPD.

There were crowds of young adults and teenagers at the party, according to CMPD.

"I passed probably 50 young adults walking up to the scene," Maj. Gene Lim said. "Apparently, there's been some type of party gone wrong, if you will. It just disturbs and upsets me that there's that many youth or young adults out here, don't know if their parents are coming." #News #Crime
