Water Softener Brine Tank | How it works on a Puronics Hydronex C
The brine tank on your water softener is used to hold the salt that the water softener uses to clean itself (regenerate). When it's time to regenerate the brine tank will fill up with some water and will mix with the salt, this brine flushed through the resin media and it knocks of anything stuck on the resin beads. The salty water is then flushed down the drain along with the things that were grabbed from your water by the whole home water filtration and softening system.
