Hello there 🍓☁️

It’s been a long long while since I’ve posted a video, lots of things have happened and I’m getting back into the groove of drawing and making videos. This is a digital animated illustration that gave me a lot of comfort to make and I hope it gives you comfort to watch~

This draw with me video is a little bit different. I made this artwork in dedication to my chow chow, Lily, who passed away earlier this July, right after I turned 21. I also made this as an ode to growing up.

I started with the question in mind “What does it mean to grow older?” and my answer was “It means to find your own solace.”

Before making this artwork, I was angry and sad, I didn’t know if I’d make art or videos again. I resented my art for bit, thinking it took away a lot of my time with Lily. I thought I would never find peace again as time moves on.

Then, I was reminded that a lot of who I am now was shaped by Lily, taking care of her, being gentle with her and understanding her and our dogs’ needs. In that way, she’s still here with me.

So for her, and for me, I will continue to make art and find things I love again. I’m growing older, navigating myself through warmth, happiness, change, pain, loss. and through it all, I find my own solace.
