My reaction to finding out I had cancer | One Year Cancer-versary

This time last year I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 22 and I later learned it was stage 4. I wanted to reflect on some of the immediate thoughts and emotions I felt that day and how I have changed over the past year.

The day I was diagnosed with cancer, I didn't cry and I think there are a few reasons for that. Deep down I knew something big was coming, but I did not expect it to be cancer. It is so rare for breast cancer to occur in anyone my age, so it came as a shock. I also think I immediately accepted my diagnosis because I believe everything happens for a reason. I was very positive the day I was diagnosed that I would be able to beat cancer. That being said, this year has still been really hard. I have now realized that my life won't ever be the same again, and that cancer fighting takes a lot of strength and energy.
