Bob Marley & The Wailers - Survival (With Lyrics)

From the album 'Survival' released 1979

Robert Nesta Marley was a Jamaican singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Considered one of the pioneers of reggae, he fused elements of reggae, ska and rocksteady and was renowned for his distinctive vocal and songwriting style. Marley increased the visibility of Jamaican music worldwide and became a global figure in popular culture.

In the early 1960s, Marley met two other young musicians, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer. The three shared a deep passion for music and a desire to express the realities of Jamaican life. Together, they formed a group: The Wailers or The Wailing Wailers. At first, they struggled, recording songs with little money, performing wherever they could, and trying to find their unique voice.

Their early music blended catchy melodies with powerful messages, and over time, they helped shape what the world would come to know as reggae. As their sound evolved, so did their message. Influenced by Rastafarian beliefs, Marley began writing songs about spiritual freedom, resistance against oppression, and love as a unifying force.

By the 1970s, Bob Marley had become the face of the group, and eventually, the band became known as Bob Marley and the Wailers. Albums like 'Catch a Fire' and 'Rastaman Vibration' introduced reggae to a global audience. These records combined deep political meaning with rhythms that made people want to move, creating a powerful connection between message and music.
