Syria: SAA launches offensive against IS fighters in Raqqa desert

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) reportedly launched an offensive against positions of the so-called Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL), near Al-Rawda in the Raqqa desert on Tuesday.

The SAA soldiers were filmed driving in a caravan and engaging in a battle with an IS group, which a Syrian media report describes as "50 members headed by a former security officer in the organization who went to fight in Libya."
