They appear to win because the flesh crowns the flesh. The world recognizes its own and promotes it.

But God’s way is completely opposite. He teaches God-reliance, not self-reliance. Jesus said, “Apart from Me, you can do nothing.” That statement shatters the pride of the flesh. The way of God looks weak at first because it involves waiting instead of forcing, surrender instead of controlling, meekness instead of dominance, and obedience instead of self-initiative. To the carnal eye, that looks like losing.

This is why evil people seem to rise quickly—they operate by the power of self, and that plugs directly into the energy of the demonic. But those who rely on God seem hidden, overlooked, and delayed. That’s because God-growth is slow, unseen, and rooted, while flesh-growth is fast, loud, and unstable. The devil offers quick results. God establishes eternal authority.

The narcissist appears to win in the first act of the story. But God's pattern always includes a death before resurrection. Jesus looked like He lost on the Cross—mocked, stripped, and powerless. That is exactly how God-reliant people look in the early stages. But after surrender comes resurrection power, the kind of authority that cannot be taken because it wasn’t self-earned—it was God-given.

The real issue is this: Who empowers you? If you rely on yourself, your power source is demonic by default because independence from God is the spirit of antichrist. If you rely on God, you may look weak now, but resurrection power awaits. The narcissistic, demonic mindset wins quickly but collapses eventually. The God-dependent person may appear to lose at first, but they inherit a throne.
