Rayshard Brooks’ funeral in Atlanta, Georgia

Rayshard Brooks will be laid to rest on Tuesday (June 23) in Atlanta, Georgia at the Ebenezer Baptist Church at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT. “Rayshard was not a member of our church but he, and his loved ones, are a part of our family,” the church’s Senior Pastor Rev. Raphael G. Warnock recently told a news outlet. “We seek to embrace them, comfort them and walk beside them in the days ahead.” 

Tyler Perry recently announced he would cover Brooks’ funeral costs and college tuition for the late 27-year-old’s four children. Brooks was fatally shot by ex-Atlanta police officer Garrett Rolfe on June 12 in a Wendy’s parking lot. The former cop has since been charged with felony murder and multiple counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for a total of 11 charges. The other officer who had been involved in Brooks’ death, Devin Brosnan, was also charged with one count of aggravated assault and two counts of violating his oath.
