Super Pointy Sprint Missile - 0 to Mach 10 in 15 Seconds - 100Gs & 6000°F

Germany was the pioneer of various technological and military advances during World War II. One of the most unique, innovative, and deadly of Hitler's secret weapons was the V-2 rocket.

The Vergeltungswaffe 2, or "The Retribution Weapon 2", was the world's first long-range guided ballistic missile. During the War, there were no effective defenses against it. Nothing was little that could be done to stop a V-2 rocket from reaching its objective.

When the Third Reich collapsed, the Allies rushed to capture the German facilities and launch sites that housed V-2s and other technologies. Many German scientists were sent to the U.S. and USSR to continue developing new weapons.

At the height of the Cold War, with both countries in conflict and threatening each other with the possibility of a nuclear conflict, the U.S. began working on advanced defense systems that could neutralize an enemy warhead in flight.

The Sprint Missile was one of those defensive weapons.

An anti-ballistic missile that could intercept objectives that had descended below an altitude of 37 miles, the Sprint was so fast that it glowed white as it flew. It was able to reach speeds of Mach 10 in just 15 seconds.
