Inside a secluded sea cave, we discovered an object that had been intentionally sealed in a thick layer of protective wax—a common ancient technique for preserving artifacts from saltwater. Using a small underwater reciprocating saw, we breached the outer casing. Inside, we found a breathtaking solid gold religious statuette, perfectly preserved and untouched by corrosion for centuries. The ruby eyes and intricate carvings suggest this was a highly sacred relic.
