Wet Felting Tutorial: How to Embellish Flat Felt
Welcome to this step by step guide to flat wet felting with added embellishments to create texture and pattern in your finished felt. Natasha guides you through the whole process, from equipment and materials you need to laying out your wool fleece fibres and all the steps to create a finished piece of flat felt. You're in the right place if you want to learn a more modern style of felting, with clear instructions, the simplest methods and techniques and high quality results.
Here is a quick rundown of the equipment and materials you’ll need to follow along with this video tutorial:
Equipment: bubble wrap 80 x 40cm piece (or 2 x 40cm square pieces), A4 sheet of paper as a template, spray bottle, washing up liquid, warm water, rubbing tool (eg kitchen cloth or wooden rubbing tool or just your hands!), rolling tool (eg rolling pin or pool noodle), tea towels, scissors.
Materials: Merino wool fleece tops/roving x c25gm (in your choice of colours or 10gm in each of two colours plus c1gm in a third colour), c1gm of bamboo fibre, c1gm of Mulberry silk fibre (or small amounts of any other decorative fibres you’d like to use), 3-5 natural wool yarns.
