Good Bye Prison Peterbilt

With a tear in my eye, not sure why, could be sadness or could be a bitter sweet victory that this truck is no longer a part of the fleet. Either way it’s time to say fair well to my Peterbilt
It’s been a love hate relationship with this particular truck, we’ve had many ups and some downs together.
I remember the very first day I saw this new Peterbilt rolling into my life, it was shiny, new, and exciting.
Upon further inspection, I soon realized it was all show and no go. It’s got fake stacks, a big 500 Cummins motor that I swear is turned down to a 300. The car hauler suspension made it ride low but felt like a Sherman Tank with the tracks blown off. Oh, the interior, well that is about as basic as an oatmeal cookie.
For a run if the mill Peterbilt 389 it’s been a pretty decent ride over the years, we had many adventures together, been in some tight spots, and toured most of the lower 48 states, only leaving me in a jam a couple times.

Confining myself in this truck, I’ve often refer to it as my prison cell giving the truck the nickname Prison Peterbilt. Truth be told the truck was the prisoner and I was it’s warden. I told it where to go and it always did as I asked. Hauling anything I wanted it to from oversized loads and broken down freightliners, to heavy citrus loads, and cabinets. The Prison Peterbilt did it’s time with class and without too much complaint.
All in all, this truck is one of the good ones, it turns heads, kicks ass, and gets complements everywhere it goes. I will miss this old truck, but you’re no longer my Prison Peterbilt.
