Live: Thai protesters stage rally over monarch's fortune with royalists set to counter-pro

Ruptly is live outside the Crown Property Bureau in Bangkok on Wednesday, November 25, as protesters gather to demand Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn gives up personal control of his assets. Thousands of police officers are expected to be deployed, as royalists have also announced their plans to rally.

Officially a juristic person, the Crown Property Bureau is responsible for managing the wealth and assets of the Thailand Monarchy. The governing board of the Bureau and the Minister of Finance of Thailand are appointed directly by the king.

Thailand has seen a wave of demonstrations demanding the reform of the long-standing monarchy system to curb the powers of the king, as well as the resignation of Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha.

Counter-protests in support of the monarchy have also been taking place.​
