In today's video, we're talking JAMS AND JELLIES for Kidney Disease! So, what's the better choice to spread on your morning toast? Jam, by far! Here’s the breakdown: jelly is made strictly from fruit juice, meaning all the solid, fibrous parts of the fruit are completely strained out before it ever hits the jar. Jam, on the other hand, is made from the actual mashed-up fruit. By keeping the crushed fruit in the mix, jam retains the natural fiber that jelly completely strips away, making it a much more whole-food option for your pantry.

Because jam holds onto that natural fiber, it offers a lower glycemic impact than jelly. Fiber helps slow down your body's absorption of sugar, meaning you won't get the same aggressive blood sugar spike that you would from a spoonful of concentrated fruit juice.
