Johnson Double U-Turn On EU Settled Status?

It seems Boris Johnson's government may have done a double u-turn on EU citizens' right to remain in the UK. Following an outcry over directions for deportation sent to people who were in receipt of settled status claims and the threat of deportation facing older and venerable groups, the Home Office has announced that they will protect all who are currently waiting completion of the application for settled status, including those who submitted the paperwork after the 30th of June.
