Changing Political Economies
At the "50 Years" Conference, this panel addressed the historical antecedents, contemporary characteristics, and future trajectories of a political economic landscape characterised by processes of neoliberalism and financialisation. Panellists explored the conceptual arsenal available for understanding changing political economies, and highlight the consequences of the increasing weight of finance on the workings of the economy, the work force, higher education and party politics.
The panel features presentations from:
Dr David Lane: Understanding Neo-liberalism as a theory of society (04:08)
Dr Stuart Hogarth: Is biotechnology a neoliberal science? (19:54)
Dr Matthew Sparkes: The economic ideas of financialisation in Britain (35:03)
Valentina Ausserladscheider: Rhetoric against financial market of right-wing populist parties (47:28)
