While in the past doctors would typically only receive about five referrals a year for Tourette's, now they receive that many a week. Travelling around the country, Scarlett meets some of those who have recently been diagnosed, the scientists grappling with this new phenomenon, a group of Tourette's TikTok influencers, charity campaigners and the neurologists treating the influx of adolescents.

Scarlett Moffatt takes us on an unexpectedly personal journey as she herself developed facial tics when she was just 12 years old, and spent two years of her life with the tics that were a result of Bell's palsy. Scarlett leaves no stone unturned as she finds herself in the middle of the debate and researchers every potential cause - is it purely a symptom of the pandemic?
