Beating Retreat 2013: Battle Symphony - "Wellington's Victory" (Beethoven)

The Household Division's Beating Retreat of 2013 - "A Military Music Spectacular" on Horse Guards Parade - was performed in the presence of Her Majesty, The Queen.

The Finale was a large-scale adaptation of Beethoven's Battle Symphony "Wellington's Victory", also entitled "The Battle of Vittoria". It was chosen to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Vittoria - a significant moment and turning point in the Napoleonic War.

Using the music, commentary, re-enactors, Artillery Guns, fireworks and numerous bands, this proved to be an exciting and truly magnificent spectacle that brought this annual event in June on Horse Guards Parade to a fitting conclusion.
