Eccentric Step Down Test

Eccentric Step Down Test for Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS)

Standard Instructions: "Stand on the step, put your hands on your hips, and step down from the step as slowly and as smoothly as you can."
The patient then performs the test without warm-up or practice trials. The patient should step off with the unaffected side, leaving the foot of the affected side on the step.
A positive test is reproduction of the concordant sign.
