Aluminium and Iodine Purple Smoke Reaction - Ex&F

Aluminium metal and elemental iodine and mixed and then a few drops of water are added to initiate the reaction.The reaction is quite violent and bursts into flames, subliming the iodine into purple smoke with yellow... something else.
