The Internet of Things - Devices connected to the internet
More and more devices are connected to the internet, from smartphones to cars to forks. Collectively, this trend is referred to as the "internet of things." The term was coined about 10 years ago, but only in the last few years have truly creative uses emerged, from temperature sensors that help regulate energy use to refrigerators that order more milk when you're running out.
Still, it's early yet. "It's not easy enough and it's not cost-effective enough," said Robert Mawrey, CEO of ioBridge, a startup that produces internet-connected devices. Mawrey recently visited the Quartz office in New York and explained how he sees the internet of things developing and how it will shift from hobby to household standard. Watch the video above to see his take.
