Spectre Italy Car Chase #jamesbond #spectre

Ten years ago, filming began in Italy for Spectre. Things began with a funeral scene with Daniel Craig and Monica Belluci - who I think was one of the best parts of the film and wished she played a bigger role. But the major work in Italy was filming the car chase in Rome. James Bond in his Aston Martin DB10 and villainous Mr. Hinx, played by Dave Bautista, driving a Jaguar C-X75 race through the streets of Rome. Production spent the next three weeks of night shoots to film it .
The locations were scouted about a year earlier. Associate producer Gregg Wilson said, “You have to get permission [to shoot in Rome] and all of that, but also just making sure that we have enough people to adequately lock off the locations. On some days, we have as many as 250 blockers whose job it is to just make sure that no-one comes out of any doorways when we’re racing these cars through.” Obtaining permits for filming was difficult. Second unit director Alex DeWitt said the production were even denied access to certain streets for fear of them causing permanent damage to priceless statues.

The car chase last about five minutes of screen time. Despite all the time, work and how nice it all looks, I think it's a pretty underwhelming sequence. Sure, it looks cool watching Bond and Hinx racing around the beautiful city, but the whole chase lacks excitement and suspense.I think I would've preferred had the film spent more time with Belluci.
