Estonia purchased 230 units of NMS 4×4 and Otokar 6×6 Arma Turkiye

Estonia has further strengthened its defense capabilities by acquiring 230 armored vehicles from the Otokar and Nurol Makina companies from Turkiye.

Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur announced that he had acquired the Otokar 6×6 Arma armored personnel carrier and the Nurol Makina NMS 4×4 light armored vehicle for 200 million euros or the equivalent of 210 million US dollars.

Vehicle deliveries will begin in mid-2024 and finish in 2025.

This acquisition contract was officially signed on October 18, 2023 in Estonia by the Minister of Defense of Estonia and Minister of Defense of Turkiye General Yaşar Güler.

The Otokar Arma 6×6 is a multi-purpose panzer that can accommodate 10 soldiers including the driver and commander.

This 18.5 ton vehicle is equipped with a 450 hp turbodiesel engine. It can travel at a maximum speed of 105 km/h and an operational range of around 700 km.

Meanwhile, the NMS 4×4 is an MRAP ( Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected ) type combat vehicle . Capable of withstanding an explosion equivalent to 6 kg of TNT under its belly or wheels.

The cabin can accommodate five to nine soldiers including the driver and commander.

The driving force is a 300 hp diesel engine. Capable of traveling at a maximum speed of 140 km/h and an operating range of up to 700 km.
