Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs' Weekly Update
Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs' Weekly Update
TRANSCRIPT:
It’s Friday. Time for another weekly update.
This week, I welcomed the state 4-H Extension Association annual conference to Knox County and rang the bell to open the Farmer’s Market. The New Harvest Park Farmer’s Market is open every Thursday from 3-6 through September.
I was also honored to speak about Operation Hero’s Hill at a meeting of the Governor’s Tri-Stars & Stripes Council at Ft Campbell, home of the famed 101st Airborne "Screaming Eagles.”
A quick update on Operation Hero’s Hill. The site grading has been completed. A big thank you to Knox County Schools who allowed us to use the old Rule High School site to store the tons of dirt needed for grading. That saved significant time and money. Thanks to First Utility District and Knox Chapman Utility District, the primary sewer and fire protection water lines are nearly completed with water supply lines to the tiny homes coming next. They expect to be done with that in about three weeks. Crews have been digging the footings for the community building and have poured footing for several of the tiny homes. We hope to begin moving the tiny homes onsite in mid-May and are shooting for a late-August ribbon cutting. If you would like more information or to see how you can help, please go to OperationHerosHill.com.
Oh, and on June 20th, NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace and I will be leading a motorcycle ride to benefit Operation Hero’s Hill. Please visit the Rusty Wallace Family of Dealerships page on Facebook to learn more.
Finally, please don’t forget early voting for the Knox County primary elections is taking place until next Thursday, April 30th. Go to Knoxvotes.com for location, hours and ballot information. Election day is Tuesday, May 5th.
Until next Friday, I hope everyone has a great week!
