The Flying Dutchman ...The VASA Sails again!

The Vasa (Wasa) Revell kit in N scale is custom built by artist Victor Edward Leong and is now able to set sail...The Model itself is too small for Remote controls unless there is a future breakthrough in technology...I decided to have fun and see if the model could be properly ballasted, sealed and filled with floatation foam for poolside fun.
Being a tiny N scale...the tiny model exceeded experimental expectations and I was just wondering how the Vasa really could have cut water if it were properly ballasted in this pool test...Keep the gun ports sealed we will be sailing in scale hurricanes!

The model is ballasted with just enough pennies and all fixed in place with the pouring of resin glass. All gun ports were sealed shut as I wanted to display it as it would be for sailing and not battle ready. 2 sails have not been installed on Fore and Main mast, I may later show those as sails that were put away and not furled so as to not cover up viewing of the decks.

The model took about 2 months to assembled while I meditated on its final design- I only regret not repaving the decks with micro cut lumber and I even could have put it inside a huge 5 gallon bottle that just became available....See also my Ship in bottle builds...The Flying Dutchmans real sailing counterpart, the Vasa was the chosen design inspiration for the Flying Dutchman in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
It is a plastic kit that seemed just too tempting to just make for display- I wanted it to float on its true keel and sail... I will call this Model class the Micro sailing challenge.
