Barkha Dutt shares her tragic experience of her father’s demise in Kim Brunhuber.s show. While sharing her experience of how despite being a journalist, a privileged citizen of the country, she couldn’t help her father. Barkha Dutt recalls her father’s last words - “I'm choking, I need help.” She adds that the ambulance that ferried my father to the hospital had an oxygen cylinder that didn’t work. She further throws light onto to the fact that several people across India are dying due to oxygen shortage and it is devastating to see the helplessness of those families. When asked about the healthcare system in the country, Barkha Dutt said, “The health care system has collapsed but we have been failed by policy makers, politicians, government and those who allowed election rallies to take place.”
