The Archive // Entry 57: Someone Is Still at the Pier – Dark Sci-Fi Ambient | REDNOX
There is a figure standing beneath the structure.
This is the first thing the drone survey team noted in their
log — not the structure itself, not the red light bleeding
from the open bays, not the fact that Outpost Maren had been
listed as evacuated and decommissioned for four years. The
first thing they wrote was: there is a figure standing beneath
the structure.
The figure did not move during the survey pass.
The figure did not look up.
The figure was not wearing a survey suit.
Outpost Maren was built during the coastal expansion of Year
Six — a long-haul processing facility elevated above the
volcanic shoreline on reinforced stilts, designed to extract
and refine the mineral deposits carried in by the tide. The
red light from the open processing bays was always there
during operation — a byproduct of the refining process, hot
and constant, spilling out over the water in long red streaks.
The facility ran at full capacity for three years.
Then the tide changed.
The official decommission report cited shifting mineral
density in the coastal deposits — no longer economically
viable to process. The crew of forty-seven was evacuated
in two transports over a single day. The processing bays
were left open because closing them required equipment
that had already been loaded onto the first transport.
The lights were left on for the same reason.
The facility has been empty since.
The lights are still on.
The bays are still open.
The tide comes in and goes out against the stilts the same
way it always did, carrying minerals nobody is refining.
The figure in the survey image has been reviewed by four
separate teams. All four confirmed it is a person. None
could identify who. The subsequent survey pass, conducted
three hours later, showed nothing beneath the structure.
The log entry reads: figure present, origin unknown,
status unknown, no action taken.
Nobody went back to look.

This transmission is Entry 57 of The Archive — a collection of
standalone atmospheric records from across the world of Aethera.
No prior knowledge required. No plot to follow. Just a structure
over dark water, still lit, and one person standing in the dark
beneath it who was not supposed to be there.
The Archive is part of TwinLux — a cinematic sci-fi ambient
channel set inside the post-collapse universe of Aethera.
New transmissions every week.
