Hi, I’m Kristen Roberson from The Scholarly Equestrian, and today I’m sharing a quick horse safety tip that you’ll want to keep in mind when it comes to tying your horse. In this video, I discuss why you should never tie your horse to stall doors and the dangerous consequences that can occur.

Why Not to Tie to Stall Doors: Tying to stall doors is extremely dangerous. These doors are not designed to withstand the pressure from a horse pulling back, and I’ve seen horses pull them off the tracks, causing a lot of risk and potential injury. In fact, I’ve witnessed a horse at a horse show causing mayhem with a stall door swinging behind them. This could have serious consequences for both the horse and the people around.

Where to Tie Your Horse Safely: Instead, always tie your horse to a solid, secure spot. Ideally, tie to areas that are concreted into the ground and bolted securely. This ensures that if your horse pulls back, the tying point won’t give way and cause an unsafe situation.
