1. Shillong : A beautiful city encircled by pine trees, Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya. It derives its name from Lei Shyllong, an idol worshipped at the Shillong Peak. Standing as tall as 1496 meters, this hill station is known for its weather, picturesque locations and traditions. This place is also known as the ‘Scotland of the East. One can find descendants of the Khyrim, Mylliem, Maharam, Mallaisohmat, Bhowal and Langrim tribes.

Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, is home to numerous waterfalls. The key reasons people visit Shillong are the exciting mountain peaks, crystal clear lakes, breathtakingly beautiful golf courses, cafes, and museums. Apart from the natural beauty, Shillong also acts as the gateway to Meghalaya, the state famous for heavy rainfalls, caving, tallest waterfalls, beautiful landscapes and amazing people and culture. Shillong, in particular, has been in the limelight for its jovial people and their culture. Interestingly, Shillong has a very westernised culture, and it has a very young feel to it. Shillong is also famous as the music capital of India, as many prominent musicians have hailed from this place. Many music events keep happening throughout the year, making it a very lively place.Deep in the dense tropical forest of Meghalaya, and shrouded in cloud and rain for much of the year, are some astonishing man-made natural wonders. Known as living root bridges, inventive members of the Khasi tribe have trained them to grow from the roots of ancient rubber trees, native to the northeast region. The root bridges provide a stable alternative to wooden bridges, which decay and get destroyed during the lengthy monsoon seasons.

2. Sohra : Sohra has stories hidden all over – in its rivers, cascades, and mist-shrouded hill-tops. It is also the place where civilizations met, the cultural capital of the Khasis and the gateway of the colonial age. The terrain comes alive during the monsoons while the drier months are all about blue skies and scenic hikes and treks. The region around Sohra is synonymous with waterfalls – the plunging Nohkalikai and the thunderous Dainthlen are settings for immortal Khasi folktales while the three-tiered Wei Saw Dong is tucked away in a verdant forest. Sohra provides layers of sights and adventures – the more time you spend here, the more surprises you will encounter.

3. Mawlynnong: It is a village in the East Khasi Hills district of the Meghalaya state in North East India. It is notable for its cleanliness and also known as Asia's cleanest village. The village comes under the Pynursla community development block .

4. Dawki : It is situated in the Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya and is home to some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the state. It is the cleanest river in Asia and is a major attraction for tourists.
There are numerous things to do in Dawki-Umngot river, ranging from swimming and boating to fishing and picnicking.
The river is also a great place for bird watching, as there are many different species of birds that can be found in the area.
