📚 The Epilogue:

So, one time when I was a kid, maybe ten years old, I went to camp during summer break. It was cool; I went rappelling and found out I was afraid of heights. I'd like to tell you I made some friends, but this isn't that kind of story.

They had a small pond for swimming, so swimming was a thing I did. It was early morning, just after breakfast. This pond was a very dirty pond, and it smelled like rotten toads. I wasn't good at remember things back then. I'm still not good at remembering things, but back then, schedules were particularly difficult I guess. I didn't realize what time it was or what the roll call bells meant or how they correlated with what other people thought I should be doing at a particular time on said particular morning.

So I was just minding my business, playing in the stinky swamp water, when one of the slightly older than me camp counselors came stomping down to the pond yelling in his best crackly, teenage, pubescent boss voice. Apparently there was a thing I should be doing - because it was a thing everyone else was doing - because... schedules. So I obliged and got out of the swamp pond. I began heading over to the showers to clean up. Nope, that was also a thing I shouldn't be doing as the slightly older boss of me not so politely informed. He made sure I headed straight to the chapel. I guess it was a church camp and we were having church.

Anyway, I smelled like death. It was embarrassing. I was embarrassed. I have no idea what the church was about or what I was supposed to have learned; I just anxiously anticipated it being over, so I could go shower - but... schedules. Showering wasn't on the schedule. As I recall, the schedule said there were more important things I should be doing, like making all the other kids dry heave. I definitely wasn't the only miserable kid that day.

I ruined many fun activities that afternoon in the sweltering heat. Finally, in the evening, a kinder camp counsellor overheard the name calling from the other kids. So she pulled me aside to ask why I smelled like fish flavored swamp mud. Dejected, my eyes welled up - although, that could have also been the stench. I simply replied, "schedules".

This kinder camp counselor finally excused me so I could cleanse the stench from my horrible, miserable day - schedule be damned. She was the angel at church camp ending my day in hell.

I was the stinky, fat kid at church camp, and I made no friends there that summer. The moral of this story is: I'm an adult now, and I make dorky YouTube videos. Life goes on; sometimes it improves. I guess the jury's out. At least you can't smell me.
