Home-Made Indestructible Eggs -- The Easy Way.

Concrete eggs are cheap and easy to make and can be decorated or used in poultry keeping. Hens, ducks, turkeys and geese can be encouraged to lay where you want them to, by using dummy eggs -- also known as pot eggs, china, or just fake eggs.

Real eggs left in a nest can get damaged or stolen by dogs (not mentioning Annie here, of course), or eaten by magpies or rats - so china eggs have been used as substitutes for ever. Nowadays you can get rubber ones too, but our hens just don't like the way they are not quite hard and are suspicious of them. (Hens are suspicious of many things, methinks.)

Balloons make a near-perfect egg shape, as long as you hang them up while they dry. Before you paint them you might like to seal them with PVA. After that you can use any sort of paint, depending where they will be live.

Don't rinse the bowl down the sink or you might block it up permanently!! Use an outside tap..
