The Legend Of Charlie Dunn (Jerry Jeff Walker)

This is a story about the real life boot maker who inspired the Jerry Jeff Walker song. Charlie Dunn is one of my favorite Jerry Jeff Walker songs, so I've always been curious about him. Who he was, where he came from. I've asked a lot of my old school Austin friends about him over the years and they'd tell me what they knew. I've also read a few things about him along the way. This is pretty much a collection of what I know about Charlie Dunn. Hopefully, you'll find this entertaining and informative.
I will say, I've never had a good pair of cowboy boots. I had two pairs in my early 20s and they were the most uncomfortable things I've ever worn. I also looked dumb as all hell in them. Perhaps Hoosiers were not meant to wear cowboy boots? I would love to try on a pair made by skilled boot maker, but that has yet to happen. Either way, here's a story about the greatest boot maker of them all, Charlie Dunn.
