Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic Night Glow 2010

Nearly 30 magnificently colored hot air balloons rose into the sky from picturesque Ann Morrison Park Thursday August 31st through Sunday September 4th 2010. This video features one of the highlights from Saturday, the Night Glow Light Show; which also included a Live Music Concert with local artist Nate Fowler.

The week's event commemorated the 100-year anniversary of flight in Idaho, and was made possible with the help and support of the Idaho Lottery, the State of Idaho, The City of Boise, the Federal Aviation Administration, Lighter Than Air America, Peak Broadcasting, KTVB News Channel and many local businesses.

"Events like this bring our community together and remind us all what a special place we live in," Kevin Godwin, SVP/Market Manager of Peak Broadcasting/Boise said.

The fun started Thursday morning in the soccer field area of Ann Morrison Park with Media Day. Crews began preparing their balloons for a mass ascension at 6:15 a.m. and launched at 7:15 a.m. The same schedule was slated for Friday morning (VIP Day), Saturday morning (Governor's Cup for Aviation Excellence) and Sunday (The Last Dance). Morning activities included military aircraft flyovers; balloon flight competitions, music and an up close look at the different eras of balloon aviation.

Saturday morning featured a pancake breakfast in support of the Idaho Foodbank and a balloon competition that was never seen before.

"We are excited to play a small part in the return of balloons to Ann Morrison Park and look forward to sharing the field with the community and our ballooning family," Scott Spencer, president of Lighter Than Air America and event producer, said.

For the first time in eight years, Saturday evening featured the Balloon Night Glow Concert. The 6 p.m. event offed music, food and beverages, vendors, balloon demonstrations, the Night Glow light show, and a live music concert from local artist Nate Fowler.

"Boise is a great venue this time of year for this visual showcase of ballooning," Jeff Anderson, Idaho Lottery Director said. "The Idaho Lottery is proud to be a title sponsor."

The Night Glow welcomed the return of the Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic and included a candlelight vigil that was hosted by 103.3 Kiss FM morning show deejay Keke Luv, in support of the Child Abuse Awareness campaign "LIVE FOR 175".
