How To Improve Elbow Extension (After Surgery)
Elbow extension is one of the biggest limitations we see in post op elbow patients. In this video I show you how to improve elbow extension after surgery with one of my favorite elbow extension mobilizations. It is important to restore full passive rom after elbow surgery, especially Tommy John Surgery. As a clinician realize that throwing athletes may not have as much elbow extension range of motion on their throwing side due to valgus extension overload over years of repetitive use. This may result in osteo adaptation which can disallow the same amount of terminal elbow extension so pay close attention to your end feel. Post op elbow rom protocols after surgery should include agonist and antagonist contractions, activating into newly acquired ranges, and long duration self mobilizations to be completed periodically.
