Led by Trae Young's 36 points and nine assists, the No. 5 seed Hawks defeated the No. 4 seed Knicks, 103-89, in Game 5. Clint Capela added 14 points (6-7 FG), 15 rebounds and two blocks for the Hawks in the victory, while Julius Randle tallied 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Knicks in the losing effort. The Hawks have now closed out this best-of-seven series, 4-1, and will advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals to face the Philadelphia 76ers.
