Nuremberg Toy Fair 2020 - Part 1

Every February, one of the world's big toy fairs is held in Nuremberg, Germany. Tim visits the fair every year, and chats to many friends there, some of whom he has known for over 30 years. The companies that exhibit there will be showing all their latest toys, but Tim also takes along some of the latest items he has found, so he has new things to show people as well!

This year, he was very taken with some finger puppets he saw, a lion, a monkey and an elephant, which you can make it walk along the table.

There was a new version of the string toy, where you keep a loop of string suspended in the air by blowing into the toy. You can also do tricks with the suspended loop of string.

Then there was a small percussion toy from India. The two wooden tubes are of different lengths, so when you tap them with the little wooden hammer, they play different notes; along the side of the tube are indentations, so sliding the hammer along the tube gives a different effect.

A small box contains a fox (the fox in a box!) Four pieces of heavy duty card, printed and cut out, can be slotted together to make a small fox. Also enclosed is an information sheet with lots of fascinating facts about foxes, and also a piece of chocolate. What's not to like?

Finally, a very unusual balloon toy. The balloon starts as a blob of slightly sticky plastic; if you didn't know, you might not guess it was a balloon. There is a plastic tube which allows you to inflate the balloon. But there are then other pieces of plastic which which will stick to the balloon, so you can add eyes and a mouth, and personalise your balloon.
