From Pavement Dreams to Driving My Own Destiny

There are master storytellers across the world. And while many of us working in corporates are exposed to great ideas and leaders, some of us have had the rare privilege of listening to one of our own — a master storyteller in action Nathan SV

Sometimes, it takes just one person to plant a dream so deep that it shapes your entire life.

As a boy growing up in a modest chawl, life was tough, space was tight, and luxuries were distant dreams. But amidst that chaos, every evening brought magic — in the form of my grandmother.

Walking slowly on her crutches, mindful of every step, she'd settle on the pavement and narrate stories that lit up our little world.

One day, I got distracted by a shiny black car passing by. I asked her, “Paati, will I ever sit in one?”

She smiled and said:

“Child, of course you can. But make the effort to sit in the driver’s seat — let the car be yours. And even if you sit behind, let it be with dignity — and remember, you must be the one who pays the driver.”

Today, every time I sit in my car, I remember her — Her grit. Her vision.

And her unshakable belief in me… long before I believed in myself.

Forever grateful to the storyteller who shaped my story. My grandmother. ❤️
