The Vision Machine: Paul Virilio's theory of perception and the image

Dr. David Peña-Guzmán, Philosophy professor and co-host of the Overthink podcast, discusses the book The Vision Machine by Italian philosopher and social theorist Paul Virilio. David outlines Virilio's wide-ranging theory of how our relationship to vision has been transformed by modern technology and culture. Beginning with his titular concept of the vision machine, David breaks down what Virilio calls omnivoyancy and the effect that it has on the very meaning of subjectivity. How are we shaped in turn by omnivoyancy as the standard for vision, from our memory to our aesthetic values to the ways we move through the world?
