Venus Rising: Women's Drum & Dance Ensemble - By the Rivers

This is a performance by Venus Rising: Women's Drum & Dance Ensemble of "By the Rivers," a Jamaican Nyabinghi rhythm that opens with a single drum mimicking a heartbeat, then features a beautiful vocal melody from our member Inez Barlatier. From the September 2013 Miami World Music Festival. The venue is the Florida International University Wertheim Performing Arts Center.

Venus Rising: Women's Drum and Dance Ensemble is a South Florida-based, multi-ethnic performance troupe dedicated to creating works that uplift and inspire. These talented women percussionists and dancers explore West African, Caribbean, Brazilian and Middle Eastern rhythms, movements and songs in powerful performances.
