First gen Ford Transit Connect Anti-Theft issues no crank

My 2010 Ford transit connect started having anti theft issues. I’m not sure if the chip is going bad or what. It will crank sometimes if you turn it on and off 4 times take the key out press a button on the key then insert key in ignition and crank but as soon as you remove the key it doesn’t recognize the key anymore.
